Josh has been helping me sheetrock. We finished sheetrocking the upstairs master area in 27 and a half hours.

Belle is adding the second coat of mud over the taped joints. We will texture after that with a joint compand and sand mix that looks something like stucco.

Finished the pre-slope mortar bed in the master shower. Before I spread and packed the mortar bed I first layed tar paper and stapled in metal lath. My cement mixture consisted of 4 parts sand to 1 part portland and I used a bonder agent for better adhesion and compression strength. The mortar bed sloped from 1.5" to about 3/8" to the center having about a 1/4" per foot slope. Next I will add the shower liner and put in the main mortar bed which tile will be laid on.

Making progress on the upstairs wall texture. I came up with a mixture of 1 box heavy weight joint compound to 3/4-5 gal. bucket of masonary sand and water. I trowel it on then go back with a damp sponge and float it to give it a stucco look. It is turning out really nice.

Rabbit built our cabinets out of maple wood and brought them from his shop in Fort Worth. Here we are installing them. He hung out for a couple of days to see some of the local sights.

The cabinets turned out beautiful. Now all I have to do is finish them and build the concrete counter tops.

I have spent the last couple of weeks finishing the kitchen cabinets. What a job! They are maple and very difficult to finish but I came up with a solution of cleaning the cabinets well with mineral spirits and applying a stain consisting of lacquer thinner and ZAR Dark Mahogany. Then I sealed them with a Satin based polyurethane.

As soon as I finish the cabinets I will move back upstairs to the bathroom. The shower is ready to be tiled and I will be designing and building a custom concrete countertop. This mortar bed mixture was the same as the pre-slope minus the bonder agent. The center is about 1.7" thick and the outside perimeter is approx. 3" thick.

Over his spring break Matt painted while I worked on the bathroom. Bold colors but I think it's going to turn out great.

Finished painting the bunt. Tomorrow I will finally take the tape off, clean the window, and bring the ladder down for good.

I am now plumbing in the pipe for our propane. I'm buying 21' sections and cutting and threading each piece to fit. This was not as easy as I thought but I am now getting the hang of it. While threading I add oil after every quarter turn. It is a little tedious and slow but this is the only way to get good threads. The main pipe coming in is 3/4" and it branches into 1/2" to each fixture.

The propane is finished with no leaks and the tank is full and holding.
